Introducing Valter Longo, PhD. Health Insights for our Community in Singapore and Beyond.

Updated: Jun 14

Professor Valtar Longo Singapore

With the internet providing access to so many health experts and talking heads, we often get asked ‘who can be trusted, to watch or follow online, even to enjoy?’ The answer is not always obvious, as those in the media spotlight have their own area of expertise, biases, even their own unique style of presentation.

Whether you are part of our Singapore or global community, in this series of posts we present some of the key online health leaders whose media channels we enjoy.

Meet Valter Longo, PhD; longevity scientist and fasting advocate.

A small disclaimer, we do not necessarily endorse or agree everything that our featured personalities nor their guests might say, but we do enjoy the general direction that they take. Please talk to your doctor, or medical practitioner most familiar with your medical history, before implementing any changes in diet, exercise or lifestyle, especially if you are under treatment.

Your health and longevity starts with you! Prioritising your own self-care is the vital first step to improving your health and long-term wellbeing. Wherever you are in your journey to health, at The Whole Health Practice we work with you, to turn knowledge and intent into targeted and effective action.

Stay Healthy,

Alastair

Valter Longo, PhD

Dr. Valter Longo, renowned as the Edna M. Jones Professor of Gerontology and Biological Sciences and Director of the Longevity Institute at the University of Southern California, is at the forefront of aging research. He also leads the Longevity and Cancer Program at the IFOM Institute of Molecular Oncology in Milan, Italy.

Dr. Longo's multidisciplinary training in biochemistry, neurobiology, immunology, and more has informed his groundbreaking work on aging mechanisms and their implications for human health. His research has identified genetic pathways that regulate aging and developed interventions that could mitigate disease progression in both animal models and humans. Notably, his studies on the Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD) have shown promising results in reducing aging markers and disease risk factors. Scroll to bottom of page to see relevant studies.

Dr. Longo's dedication to improving public health extends beyond research, as evidenced by his commitment to providing accessible treatment, education on healthy living, and innovative research strategies through his foundations and philanthropic efforts.

Like many scientists, Professor Longo does not have his own YouTube channel. Enjoy this interview with Rich Roll (learn more about Rich here)
